Pet Friendly St. Augustine Travel Tips

We all love to travel with our friends – even our four-legged ones. While many vacation spots boast of pet-friendly hotels or dog-friendly beaches, few destinations are as canine-centric as Florida’s Historic Coast. Where else can you take your dog along for a guided tour of a museum, on a scenic ocean cruise, or a historic walking tour created just for pups and their people?

Leashed dogs are welcome in several area attractions including the world famous Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, the Colonial Quarter Museum and the Spanish Military Hospital Museum.

St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and The Beaches have several pet friendly accommodations ranging in price points and variety from hotels, to bed and breakfast inns and beach resorts. Some even provide welcome baskets for your canine guests.

Your pet will find refreshing water bowls outside shops in St. Augustine’s historic district. In addition, more than 20 restaurants with outdoor dining options welcome pets.

In many designated areas of the beach, you can enjoy a morning walk with your leashed pet. And don’t forget dog parks. Florida’s Historic Coast has five designated dog or dog-friendly parks.

Three parks for four paws to check out while in town…
Paws Park in Treaty Park –a leash free playground with drinking fountains, fire hydrants, and plenty of open space to enjoy playing catch. 1595 Wildwood Drive, St. Augustine

Davis Park – two large fenced in areas with a pond and obstacles for play. 210 Davis Park Road, Ponte Vedra Beach

Veterans Park – a 3 acre playground divided to separate the large dogs from the small ones, drinking fountains, picnic shelter, and plenty of open space. 1332 Veterans Parkway, St. Johns

Have you taken your four-legged friend there?

Hi, my name is Lori Judd and I am a CTA Graduate of ICTA (Institute of Certified Travel Agents) as well as a ACC accredit agent of CLIA. I have been in the travel industry for 20 years. I started my travel career at Journey's Travel and later joined the Walt Disney Travel Company, where I booked travel vacations for the company for 10 years. I left WDTC to pursue my dream of opening my own travel agency. Why should you book through me? You will find that am I extremely knowledgeable in my field with first hand experience with many cruise ships and vacation destinations. Plus, unlike most agents who are condemned to book vacations to make their agency a certain amount of revenue (or risk losing their jobs), I am able to book what you actually want vs what the agency needs. This means your vacation needs will never be compromised just because a supplier is offering more commission to book them. Also, since we are affiliated with a larger travel company we are still able to compete with other agencies by giving our clients competitive prices. The bottom line is: Prestige Travel Vacations is more interested in making your dreams come true by booking exactly what your asking for based on your needs and not by what someone else's idea of what a great vacation for you would be just because it will get them more commission. My cruise experiences: DCL- cruised 9 times! Current Platinum Member/ Wonder (twice in '06) and recent 11/2010/ Magic inaugural & Disney Dream -Apr. 2011 RCCL- 5 times! Current Platinum Member.
