Tropical Florida Key Largo With Pets

For many, a visit to the Florida Keys is a dream come true. The end of the road … America’s island life haven … the place where the pavement ends at the waterline and it’s all about nature, fun, romance, and characters. So, why explore it without having your favorite furry friend with you?

Traveling the Florida Keys by car can be very easy.  Visitors drive along the only All-American Road in Florida, a beautiful, scenic route featuring 42 bridges. As the only road in and out of the Keys, at peak travel times traffic can become congested. So, plan ahead and travel during off-peak hours and make sure your pet goes potty before you get on this scenic route and allot enough time to reach your destination. Remember, it’s 80-90 degree’s almost year round in the keys so never leave your pet in your car and carry lots of cool water with you at all times.

Key Largo starts the chain with is natural wonders and here are just a few of the many hotels and resorts that will allow you to keep your pet with you along your journey of the keys. Remember that most hotels and resorts will have a pet fee and a policy that you’ll need to follow.

Lots of nice local places to take your pet with you to hang out or dine at as well as most places with outdoor seating will allow a well behaved pet. Here are two such places:

KEY LARGO CONCH HOUSE RESTAURANT & COFFEE BAR

Featured on the FOOD NETWORK. Award winning coffee! Local seafood & vegetarian entrees. WiFi HOT spot! Pet friendly! Private parties and catering available. Open 8am daily.

PILOT HOUSE RESTAURANT & MARINA

On the Docks of Lake Largo, Pilot House features waterfront dining at family friendly prices. Dine inside or waterside. Daily happy hour, fresh local seafood, certified Angus steak, prime rib and pasta. Underwater Lighting. Kids can feed fish from dock.

You are allowed to bring them to parks like John Pennekamp State Park if you keep them on a leash. There are 3 nice walks within Pennekamp to take your dogs–including a short but memorable boardwalk loop through the mangroves– just remember not to sit on the beach with your pet. Because most beaches do not allow pets and their are hefty fines for not cleaning up after your pet.

Note: Pet policies and rates change frequently, so check or have us check for you if you book through us to verify the current rates and policies.

Hi, my name is Lori Judd and I am a CTA Graduate of ICTA (Institute of Certified Travel Agents) as well as a ACC accredit agent of CLIA. I have been in the travel industry for 20 years. I started my travel career at Journey's Travel and later joined the Walt Disney Travel Company, where I booked travel vacations for the company for 10 years. I left WDTC to pursue my dream of opening my own travel agency. Why should you book through me? You will find that am I extremely knowledgeable in my field with first hand experience with many cruise ships and vacation destinations. Plus, unlike most agents who are condemned to book vacations to make their agency a certain amount of revenue (or risk losing their jobs), I am able to book what you actually want vs what the agency needs. This means your vacation needs will never be compromised just because a supplier is offering more commission to book them. Also, since we are affiliated with a larger travel company we are still able to compete with other agencies by giving our clients competitive prices. The bottom line is: Prestige Travel Vacations is more interested in making your dreams come true by booking exactly what your asking for based on your needs and not by what someone else's idea of what a great vacation for you would be just because it will get them more commission. My cruise experiences: DCL- cruised 9 times! Current Platinum Member/ Wonder (twice in '06) and recent 11/2010/ Magic inaugural & Disney Dream -Apr. 2011 RCCL- 5 times! Current Platinum Member. Sailed once in a family suite. Granduer/ Enchantment/ Mariner/ Navigator 'Jan.08 & 2010/ New- Allure May 2012 Carnival- Fantasy/ Miracle and Inspiration 9/17/09. Ship tours incld.: CCL- Legend/ Holland's Veendam /NCL Star Nov.2011/ RCCL Jewel 3/12/12/ CCL Paradise 10/21/12
