Have you heard the latest news around the Florida ports? There are so many new things happening around here, from brand-new gleaming terminals to new cruise ships! Let’s check out some of the latest updates that are coming…..
New cruise terminals are the flavor of the month here in Florida. The Port of Maimi, for instance, will debut a Norwegian Cruise Line terminal that is set for completion in fall of 2019. Just in time for the new Norwegian Encore (part of the Breakaway Plus Class) to make her debut in Miami with seasonal cruises to the Caribbean. The new terminal will be nearly 166,500 sq. feet and can accommodate ships of up to 5,000 passengers, featuring new technology to support faster and more efficient embarkations and disembarkation process as well as expedited security screenings and luggage check-in.
Expected to open in 2020 is the new MSC terminal. This new terminal will be able to accommodate MSC cruise’s next-generation ships still under construction like the MSC World Class cruise ships that will carry 7,000 passengers.
Also, sailing to Miami will be Royal Caribbean’s 5,494 passengers Symphony of the Seas.
For Fort Lauderdale Port Everglades port, Celebrity Cruises will be getting a new cruise terminal and it is set for completion in just a couple of months. This new terminal will support the line’s newest ship the Celebrity Edge which will also be debuting this fall. The terminal will also host a variety of Celebrity’s ships including the Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Reflection, and Celebrity Silhouette. This new terminal will feature a seamless check-in process: an interactive light wall art installation, a 1,463 square foot GKD Medimesh that will wrap the exterior of the terminal with more than 18,000 sq. feet of outward-facing glass and a special area for suite class guests. Suite guests will now have an exclusive lounge, elevator, lobby, screening area and a private rooftop terrace.
Port Canaveral near Orlando, will be welcoming Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas in May 2019 as the line relocates it from the port of Miami. This huge ship will be offering 7 night Western & Eastern cruises. Mariner of the Seas will also be calling port Canaveral home with 3 & 4 nights ailings to the Bahamas. And with the port being so close to “the happiest place on Earth,” you know Disney Cruise Line will have some new magic up its sleeve with Disney Dream sailing some special itineraries in June and July of 2019 with two stops to it’s privately owned Castaway Cay on it’s 3 & 4 night Bahamas sailings. The Disney Fantasy will also embark on special itineraries through the 2019 summer season.
Tampa Bay will see the arrival of the 2,124 passenger Carnival Legend in October of 2019. In December this ship will be offering a special 14 day Panama Canal cruise visiting ports of calls of Limon in Costa Rica, Cartagena, And Aruba among of ports.
